Melania and Michelle meet for the first time over tea

First Lady Michelle Obama led her successor, Melania Trump, on a tour of the White House Thursday as the two chatted about the challenges of raising children amid the tumult of presidential politics.
“Michelle has had a chance to meet the incoming first lady, and they had an excellent conversation as well. We want to make sure they feel welcome as they prepare to make this transition,” President Obama said after meeting Donald Trump.
Neither the first lady nor Melania Trump spoke to the press, but Obama’s press secretary, Josh Earnest, provided some details of the visit.
“Obviously, the first lady’s two daughters spent the formative years of their childhood here at the White House, and Mrs. Trump’s son will also spend some important years of his childhood here at the White House,” he said.
“That’s a rather unique childhood. And the two of them had an opportunity to talk about that experience and being a good parent from that experience.”
Ten-year-old Barron Trump will be the youngest son of a president to live in the executive mansion since John F. Kennedy, Jr. Earnest also said that the wives were accompanied by White House curator Bill Allman.

“Some of you have had an opportunity to visit with Mr. Allman. He is essentially a walking encyclopedia of knowledge about everything at the White House, and so Mrs. Trump had an opportunity to hear from him,” Earnest said.
The pair also stepped out onto the Truman Balcony to take in the view — but did not stop by the first lady’s beloved vegetable garden, the fate of which is uncertain.
Melania Trump, 46, will be the first immigrant first lady since 1825, when Louisa Adams, the English-born wife of President John Quincy Adams, occupied the White House.

The native of Slovenia, a former model, moved to the United States in 1996 and became a citizen 10 years later after marrying the billionaire developer in 2005.
During a recent campaign speech, Melania said she would focus on fighting cyber-bullying as first lady — a plan many found ironic, given her hubby’s history of hammering and mocking his critics on Twitter.
After the tour wrapped up, the women walked to the Oval Office, and the two couples spent time together before the Trumps left.
Melania has often expressed her admiration for Michelle — and even took heat for lifting passages of a speech the first lady gave when Melania addressed the Republican National Convention.
